Kyzil Plateau is the capital of Veldin. It has very little inhabitants and contains the only Lombax living named Ratchet, along with his companion Clank. Plenty of Lombax Technology had been scattered in the area, along with ruins of skyscrapers and buildings, possibly shops for businesses.
This city was under attack by Drek's enforcement, failed using the Deplanetizer. It was also an area that was under attack by the Tyhrranoids in Up Your Arsenal, which Ratchet helped the Galactic Rangers to avoid.
The term "Kyzil" possibly came from the city in Russia called "Kyzyl". A Plateau is any form of plain lands or craters.

Chronology
History
Not much is known about Veldin's or Kyzil's history. It was possibly a Lombax planet, which would explain all of the ruins of Lombax technology, and why Kaden and Ratchet's mother sent Ratchet to this location. Ratchet did have a watchover of some sort, which was possibly a close friend or relative of Ratchet's parents.
Real-world Simallarities
This area is very simaller to the Colorado Plateau, which had the same buttes attraction to it. This is possibly where Insomniac got the idea.
"Kyzil" as mentioned before, possibly came from the city in Russia called "Kyzyl".
However, "Kyzil" (Қызыл) means "red" in Kazakh, making this called "Red Plateau" due to it's "Mars" effect, or desert-y terrain.
